How it works

Saving, measuring, mixing — and what happens to long videos.

How is My Minute Mix different from a normal bookmark manager?

Bookmark managers like Raindrop or Marqly are built around organizing links into folders, boards, and tags so you can search for them later. My Minute Mix is built around finishing what you save: we work out the reading or watching time of every link we can read and build a session of 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes — or any length up to three hours — that fits the break you actually have.

What kinds of links can I save?

Articles, essays, YouTube videos, podcasts, Reddit threads, Hacker News discussions, and standard web pages. For articles we estimate reading time from the text (including CJK characters); for YouTube videos we pull the runtime from YouTube.

What happens to a long YouTube video?

It gets cut into pieces you can finish. If the creator added chapters, those are the pieces; if not, it’s split into 5-minute parts. A 45-minute talk can then fill part of a 15-minute mix, and the rest waits for the next one.

Does it remember where I stopped?

Yes. Mixes are saved to your account, so you can refresh the page, log out, or come back days later and pick up the same mix where you left off. Finished pieces stay finished.

How do I find something I saved?

Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) to open the command palette and search your library, or browse the library tabs: All, Videos, Articles, Audio and Completed.

What happens if a saved link goes dead (404 or 410)?

Our Link Health Guard checks older saves in the background. If a page returns 404, 410, or a missing-domain DNS failure on two separate checks across different days, it is marked as unreadable so it is left out of future mixes. Your saved link is never deleted automatically.

Saving & apps

The Chrome extension, browsers, and phones.

4 questions

How do I save a page?

In Chrome, click the extension’s toolbar icon, press Alt+Shift+S, or right-click any link and save it from the menu. The page is saved in the background and a small “Saved to My Minute Mix” notice appears where you are. Anywhere else, paste the link into the web app.

Explore the browser extension

Which browsers support the extension?

The extension is on the Chrome Web Store and is built for Google Chrome. Brave and Arc install Chrome Web Store extensions directly, so they can add it too. Microsoft Edge can install it once you turn on “Allow extensions from other stores”; there is no separate Edge Add-ons listing. There is no Firefox or Safari version — use the web app there.

Is there an Android or iPhone app?

There’s no native app, and none is planned. My Minute Mix is a web app, so it works in your phone’s browser as well as on a computer, and you can add it to your home screen. Saving from Android’s share sheet is coming soon.

What permissions does the Chrome extension ask for?

activeTab (to read the URL and title when you click the icon or press Alt+Shift+S) and contextMenus (so you can right-click any link to save it). From version 1.1 it also asks for scripting, used only to show a small “Saved” notice on the page you just saved from — it reads nothing from the page. It has no host permissions and never injects tracking scripts into the pages you browse.

Pricing

Free, no paid tier. Here’s the fine print.

2 questions

Is My Minute Mix really free?

Yes. My Minute Mix is 100% free — no credit card required, no trial timer, and no 100-bookmark cap. Saving and mixing are the core product, not an upsell.

Will my saved library ever be locked behind a paywall?

Never. Saving links and building mixes are the core product, and they stay free. If anything is ever paid, it will be an optional extra — such as listening to articles read aloud — never access to what you’ve saved.

Privacy

Your library is yours. No AI on your saves.

2 questions

Do you sell my data or use my saved links to train AI models?

No. Nothing you save is sold, shared with advertisers or sent to an AI provider, and nothing in your library is used to train a model. You can delete any saved item yourself at any time, and if you write to us we’ll permanently delete your account and everything in it within 30 days.

Read the full privacy policy

Who can see my library?

Only you. The one exception is a mix you choose to share: sharing gives that mix a public link that anyone with the link can open, and “Stop sharing” turns the link off again. Nothing is shared until you ask.

Moving in

Coming from Pocket, Instapaper, Raindrop or your bookmarks.

2 questions

How do I move my links from Pocket, Raindrop, or Instapaper?

Import your Pocket, Instapaper, Raindrop or browser-bookmarks export. Sign in, go to /app/import and choose the file: it’s read in your browser, links you’d already read or archived are skipped by default, duplicates are skipped, and up to 2,000 links are saved and measured in the background like any other save. Pocket has shut down, so a Pocket import only works if you downloaded your export before it closed.

See the step-by-step guide

Can I import or export my library?

You can import: Pocket (HTML or CSV), Instapaper (CSV), Raindrop (CSV or HTML) and browser bookmarks (HTML) exports, up to 2,000 links per import. There’s no export yet, so your links live in your account. You can delete anything you’ve saved whenever you like.
