The slow art of finishing things

Most of what we save is never opened again. Not because it was bad, but because there was never a moment that obviously fit it.

Not saved yet. Save it and it lands here as “5 min read”.

Three ways to save

Pick whichever your hand is nearest.

All three do the same thing: send the page to your library and leave you where you were.

01 · Toolbar

Click the icon

Pin My Minute Mix next to the address bar. One click saves the page you’re looking at — no popup, nothing to fill in.

02 · Right-click

Use the menu

Right-click a link for “Save this link to My Minute Mix” — it’s saved without opening. Anywhere else on the page, it’s “Save this page to My Minute Mix”.

03 · Keyboard

Press the shortcut

Alt + Shift + S. Option + Shift + S on a Mac, Ctrl + Shift + S on ChromeOS. Change it any time at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

What happens after you save

You stay put.
It does the rest.

  1. 01

    It saves in the background

A My Minute Mix tab opens behind the one you’re on, saves the link, and closes itself when it’s done.

  2. 02

    A notice confirms it

“Saved to My Minute Mix” appears in the corner of your page for three seconds, and the icon flashes ✓. Saved it before? It says “Already in your My Minute Mix library” instead — nothing is saved twice.

  3. 03

    It’s measured on save

Articles get a reading time, YouTube videos their length. Long videos are split into the creator’s chapters, or 5-minute parts, with resume.

  4. 04

If it needs you, it comes forward

Signed out, an error, or no answer after 15 seconds — the tab comes to the front so you can sort it out.

Permissions & privacy

Three permissions. Nothing on the side.

This is the complete list the extension asks Chrome for. It only acts when you ask it to, and it only ever talks to myminutemix.com.

  • activeTab

Reads the address and title of the tab you’re on — only at the moment you click the icon, use the menu or press the shortcut.

  • contextMenus

Adds the two right-click items: save this link, and save this page.

  • scripting

Puts the “Saved” notice on the page you saved from. It reads nothing there, and the notice removes itself after three seconds.

Not asked for
  • No access to “all websites” — no host permissions at all
  • No content scripts running on the pages you browse
  • No history, bookmarks, cookies or storage permissions
  • No popup, no account inside the extension, nothing stored in it

Only myminutemix.com can message the extension back, and only to report how a save it started went.

Install

Set up in a minute. Then forget it’s there.

  1. 01

Add it from the Chrome Web Store

In Chrome — or Brave, Arc and other Chromium browsers that install from the Chrome Web Store — click Add to Chrome.

  2. 02

    Pin it to the toolbar

Open the puzzle-piece extensions menu and pin My Minute Mix, so the icon is always one click away.

  3. 03

    Save something

The first time, you’ll be asked to sign in to your free account. After that, saves just happen.

Firefox or Safari? There’s no extension for them. Paste any link into the web app instead — it’s measured the same way.
On Android? Saving from the share sheet is coming soon. Until then, paste links in the web app.
Extension FAQ

Fair questions. Straight answers.

Which browsers can use the extension?
It’s on the Chrome Web Store and built for Google Chrome. Other Chromium browsers that install extensions straight from the Chrome Web Store, such as Brave and Arc, can add it too. There’s no Firefox or Safari version — in any browser you can paste a link into the web app instead.
Does it slow pages down or run on every site?
No. It has no content scripts and no host permissions, so it does nothing on a page until you click the icon, use the right-click menu or press the shortcut. The only thing it ever adds to a page is the small “Saved” notice, for three seconds, on the page you just saved from.
What can the extension see?
The address and title of the tab you save, at the moment you save it. It doesn’t read the page, doesn’t see your history, and stores nothing of its own.
How do I save a link without opening it?
Right-click the link and choose “Save this link to My Minute Mix”. The link is saved and measured, and you stay on the page you’re reading.
What happens if I’m signed out?
The My Minute Mix tab comes to the front and asks you to sign in. Once you do, the save finishes on its own — you don’t have to save it again.
Can I change the keyboard shortcut?
Yes. The default is Alt + Shift + S (Option + Shift + S on a Mac, Ctrl + Shift + S on ChromeOS). Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts to change it, or to set it if another extension already uses those keys.
Why did the icon show a dash instead of a tick?
That page can’t be saved. Browser pages like chrome://settings, local files and other extensions’ pages aren’t on the web, so the icon shows “—” and nothing is sent.
Is the extension free?
Yes. The extension and My Minute Mix are both free, with no paid tier and no trial.
Thirty seconds to install

Add it once.
Save without thinking.

Install, pin, sign in. Then anything worth finishing is one click away — measured and waiting for your next gap.
